We3 Journey Fourth: Moving Day

August 15, 2011. It is a time of completion of our lives in Mill Valley. We have been saying good-bye to friends, preparing the house for its new family (we are going to rent it for at least a year), and packing our belongings into a myriad of boxes. During the weeks of preparation to move everything to North Carolina, Stella found this marvelous company called ABF. They are in the self-packing business. They bring you a shipping container to your door, you pack it and they ship it to your new location or will store it for you in one of their facilities. After many conversations, we were all ready to agree to it only to find out that their trucks would not make it up our driveway!

We worked out an alternate plan that we would hire a local moving company and move everything to ABF's facility in Oakland where it would be loaded on to their trucks and shipped across the country. Thanks to Yelp, we found Paul at Birch Circle Movers. They came to the house and we had a wonderful conversation that centered around spirituality and commitment to new ventures! It was wonderful.

So with very short notice, they agreed to move us! Big hug to all of them!! They showed up at 8 AM, began to back the truck up the driveway and it was too tall to make it under a large hanging branch of a live oak at the foot of the driveway!!! There was about one minute of consternation before they accepted the fact that they were going to have to walk it all out of the house and all the way down the driveway. Poor guys. There were four of them who were working their hearts out.

In spite of all this, they had it all done in a little two hours. The truck was packed to the end and off it went to Oakland. Beautiful. An hour of repacking and it was done. But here is the wonderful part. We had anticipated needing 16 feet of the trailer and they packed it all into 11! Way to go Will of Birch Circle.
